My Red Stilettos – Judge not lest ye be judged

To those who have issue with  pictures of me up on FB or ‘my past’… my past is what made me who I am today.  In fact, I’m not done yet. Music, rock and roll, high heels, fun clothes, and a ROCK SOLID stand on God’s word is the foundation of who I am.  It will not change.   God has placed a calling upon me- and it has been there for years.

My past is not clean, nor pretty. It is not all filled with happy times. In fact, it is layered with the depths of the things that keep people in bondage and away from God.  That is PRECISELY why I stay true to who I am – because God was able to give me the guidance to overcome those chains- and gave me the ability to create a new life based on HIS word. Now, I reach out to others who are currently where I was- yet who seek a guidance, a mentor- a friend and confidant to lean on as they come out of their dark times.

In fact- Just this last week alone I was able to give strong, Godly counsel to 4 people around the country who are currently coming back to God. They reached out to me and were not offended by my past or who I am today.

I lead with a Rock & Roll Attitude- you can read more about that here: https://debbrasweet.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/leading-with-a-rock-n-roll-attitude/

Red StillettosOne of the organizations where I am a leader, teacher and mentor in a very public way is lead by one of my most dear, ultra proper and grammatically correct and conservative friends.  She has given me a large responsibility over HER business.  She knows of my past and knows who I am today.

One of the best compliments she ever gave me to my style and the results I deliver… was “Debbra leads with very tall red stillettos!”

She has made it public that my work for her in the area of leadership has had a major- beneficial – impact on hundreds of lives here in San Diego. She is a very proper, loving and God Fearing woman… and she embraces me for who I am today as a result of my past.

I know my audiences. I ALWAYS carry myself with dignity, grace and class. I always did. I always will. I always remember I am Gods Representative first. When I need to be demure and proper, I do. When I need to be bold and stand firm on the truth- even when naysayers and backbiters are stirring up strife because they are not comfortable with themselves, growth or change- I stand.

When you read the Bible, you will see that Peter, Paul and even Jesus himself had boldness. Peter and Paul were not perfect in their walk- yet God had a purpose for them because of their past.  Because of their past and their heart for God-they were able to bring thousands to God.

If you judge me or Daniel because of a photo (especially from a long time ago)- you are off the Word. The Bible tells us to not judge- lest ye be judged.

My ministry is in my words and in my life as an example for others to see. My words come in many forms- written (my books), spoken (the public speaking, teaching, training and one on one mentoring I do)- and yes…. my music. My vocal music ranges a variety of styles. We have the peaceful, calming, acoustic sounds for those who prefer that type. We have edgy, fun, Top 40 and progressive Rock & Roll. The words in this music cuts through the heart to get to the truth. The truth is simple as Christ says:  “Either you be with me or you be against me”.

Until you have personally come to know me- and my stand for God- it is best to take a look at your own heart first.  Where is YOUR stand?

God tells us to steward our body for health sake – it is NOT God’s job to continually heal due to slothfulness of caring for ourselves.  I was in good shape then- I am in better shape today. God tells us to steward our mind- what is it you think upon?  Where do your thoughts lead you?  God tells us to steward or spiritual life. Do YOU pray daily in continually in perfect prayer? Do you speak in tongues continually as we are instructed by Paul? Do you steward your finances? Are YOU continually practicing God’s spiritual laws for abundance through tithing (of your time, finances, heart, plurality of physical things)?

God tells us to LOVE HIM and with ALL(inclusively) of our Heart, our Mind, our Soul and our Spirit.

I do. I work out, eat clean, and teach others how to do it too. I have learned how to steward my physical wellbeing. I have been in the depths of extreme physical maladies that would stop most people cold in their tracks. Most would give up. I did not. I used those times to strengthen myself and my knowledge of the body and its ability to heal naturally based on God’s word and ways.

God makes us responsible for that which we know. I know a LOT about this. I now teach others how to do the same.  One way I do that is I help others detox physically who have lived in that dark world where the common way to fill the void in their heart is only through drugs, sex, alcohol, etc. We can detox the physicals and feed them with the Word so they do not go back to those ways. You can be Rock & Roll-still have fun and STAND for God.

I help newly pregnant moms have a healthy baby and pregnancy. (www.NoMorningSickness.com) I help others shed toxic fat  www.RxNaturally.TSFL.com

I also help others get rid of cholesterol, reduce and overcome things like diabetes, colon problems, issues with cancer, and a host of other things. This is all part of teaching others balance, healthy living based upon a lifestyle of making changes starting from were they are today.

I monitor my thoughts and input daily. The words I write, speak, teach and yes… sing…. are inspired of God and give searching minds and hearts the truth so they have new information to counter act all the garbage that holds them in bondage without God.

I tithe – financially – 10% of my financial first fruits, as well as I give at least 10% of my time daily to serve God. There are days when it’s all about God. I work for HIM first.  I pray continually. I speak in tongues all the time. It is my spiritual shield and buckler that guides my steps. It is my 24/7 direct connection to God. And yes..I even speak in tongues in my dreams at times.

This calling has been increasing and soon you will see more Rock & Roll type pictures.

You will see pictures of me as a mom, as a friend, having fun, riding motorcycles,  being strong, living life and most importantly… through it all – you will see my foundation, built upon God- will never change or go away. Only my knowledge on God’s word will continue to grow, my outreach and boldness to share and connect to others who are searching will widen- and those who I need to connect to- will find me because of who I am.

Keep the faith and Keep Rockin’

Those Silly Questions Part 2

The question this year that I sought an answer for is: why do I do what I do? I have put a lot of thought to question-mark1that question.  And I believe I have the answer. The answer is simply because it’s what I am supposed to do.

My passion for wanting to show people there’s a better way started when I was about 12 or 13. I don’t know why, I don’t know how it started.  For many years I never really even talked about this.  It was just simply something that I knew, deep in my heart was a reason for putting my 150% into everything I do.

I believe that part of that passion came from a personal frustration of wanting to know more, to do more.  I was searching for answers for who I was and what my purpose in life was.  I did not know where to find those answers, and I sought out a lot of guidance from adult friends and people who were in my life.

Unfortunately, I never really got the answers from an external source.  I tried many things to discover what types of activities interests and work I liked, didn’t like, wanted to or did not want to do.

I knew from a young age that I wanted to be on stage in front of people blessing them with music but it seem like there was something more needed. That part of my vision seemed incomplete.  But what did complete it, was the understanding that my music and my words were a door (or a vehicle) to connect with people.

I knew that by being available to be a good friend and mentor to others that I could share with others who were searching for answers and support about their life- t that they did not have to a long sad and frustrated time trying to figure out their purpose in life.

Growing up, I had seen too many people with lines of hardship on their face.  They were good people, who had work ethic, family.  They usually had a job, but something always seemed to be missing.  Although they laughed, when I would look into their eyes, and I would hear how they would speak, what I picked up on all too often was a sense of sadness, loneliness and frustration. I could feel that they seemed stuck in their life.  I picked up on a sense of despair.  They were stuck in a rut called their life, and although options and choices and doors of opportunity were all around them.  They either didn’t see those doors, or they didn’t believe they could open them and walk through.  I would watch these people over the years, and that same hardness, sadness, loneliness and frustration never went away.

I was always the square peg in a round hole, and I realized from a very early age that geographically, where I lived, although it was in a small town, if I wanted something more, all I had to do was drive to a bigger town.

There were big towns all around us.  If you were willing to drive for an hour or two, the world could be your oyster.  I used to spend a lot of time in the library, and I would read books…lots of books.  Through reading I learned about life beyond the cities that surrounded us.  (this was way before PC’s and Google) Again, I knew that choices could be made and that resources were always around if you were willing to take a chance and reached out to somewhere beyond your comfort zone.

This is a lot of information for young girl to understand, but the fact is that I did.

It is still the same realization that is part of the passion that drives me to help other people step beyond their comfort zone to realize their dreams.

Technology has opened up a whole new world.  You don’t have to even have to leave your home anymore to open doors of opportunity!

So my passion to help people discover what doors they want to open and walk through, be empowered to make healthy, strong, solid choices -and avoid as many pitfalls as possible along the way- is even stronger than it was when I was a young girl.

So, when I ask myself why do (teach, lead, mentor, grow my businesses that provide valuable services, information, resources to help others be their best, be successful) …I do it- it is simply because I know, for me, it is the right thing to do.

What is it in your life that you want to do, you know you should do- but have been afraid to try? This is the year to take a step and open a door of opportunity for a new year and a new you!

Caution: Tap Water Ahead! Part 1

tap-waterI heard last week on the local news that the city has decided (again) to ‘add more fluoride’ to our local  water supply.

Most people are unaware of how these little additions…(told to us by the government that they will “help”) are actually very harmful to our body.

These added chemicals are supposed to keep the water source pure and clean. Make it ‘sanitary’ they say.  However, these chemicals, get loaded up in our body and can actually cause problems for us.  Our body works in part as a filter.  Like any filter, you need to clean it and maintain it for the ‘filtering’ to be effective.  Too much toxic build up in the body from chemicals in our water can lead to joint pain, achiness, arthritis type symptoms and more.

For each of us, clean, pure, non chemically loaded water is important.  Our bodies are 3/4 water.   Having as clean of a water source going into our body is very important.   As we grow in our own personal leadership skill sets and decisions for our self and others also should encompass our health and well being.   Leaders are role models.  If you are sick and unhealthy- it is hard to inspire others to greatness.

Below is an article that I wrote about two years ago which was originally published in the San Diego Family Magazine.  I share some of the info I learned about our tap water. It talks about another chemical, chlorine, in the water supply. The issue of more flouride in the water is similar to the chlorine. They are both useful in some applications in life- but harmful if ingested.

Hopefully the info in the article will help you too.  I share about how we made some adjustments to our whole house water supply after learning the details of what is in tap water. If you need an alternate solution for your water supply, here is another  resource for you:  Nature’s Spring RO Water Filter,

Caution: Tap Water Ahead!

By:Debbra Sweet

(c) 2007

Have you ever wondered why so many people don’t drink tap water? The reasons for this vary, but most say it’s because ‘the water doesn’t taste good’. Not surprisingly, your body knows what’s good for you. A recent water quality and safety study revealed that treated drinking water in the US often has higher chlorine levels in it than pool water!

As a mom with two young children, I found that information disturbing. I have always been an avid water drinker, but with the way our tap water tasted and smelled, I found myself drinking less. I even felt more tired and achy when I did. After I heard about the levels of contaminants in the average water piped into a house, I sought a solution—and now I want to share it with you.

Drinking Water Backgrounder
The following info should explain why your drinking water tastes funny: In 1974, Congress turned drinking water standards over to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA then established a national standard for allowable pathogen-causing bacteria and viruses in our drinking water. The Safe Drinking Water Act in 1986 further reduced the allowable amount of microbial contaminants—and increased the levels of chemicals like chlorine, ammonia and chloramines in the water.

In 1996, the EPA reduced the 1986 levels by almost 80% more. These new requirements were mostly met by increasing the amount of chemicals in the water again.

This has left us with lots of chemicals in our water and researchers are saying has caused a significant health impact. In fact, the EPA has released a study which states ‘exposure to levels of disinfectants over long periods of time may cause health problems, including damage to blood and kidneys.’ (Source: United States Office of Water EPA 816-R-01-014, Environmental Protection (4606) June 2001 Agency, Page 4 Paragraph 6)

What’s A High Level and Why Should Moms Be Concerned?
Here in San Diego, most public pools maintain chlorine levels at 1.5 ppm (parts per million). Common free chlorine levels measured in drinking water throughout San Diego County are approximately 2.15 ppm (with chloramine averaging 4.5 ppm)—that’s a full 30% higher than swimming pool water (Source: City of San Diego Water Department: 2006 San Diego Annual Water Quality Report Pg. 9). Considering that the body is made up of over 70% of water, the very building-block for your health, these numbers are disturbing.

You might be saying, “Well, I only drink bottled water, so this doesn’t affect me.” Unfortunately, you’re not safe: The average person still ingests the equivalent of 8 glasses of unfiltered tap water/day. How can this be, you ask? The answer lies in a study done by Dr. Lance Wallace, a senior scientist at the EPA: he credits two thirds of our chlorine exposure to inhaling/absorbing it while showering.

Apparently, shower steam can contain up to 50 times the chemical levels of tap water because chlorine and most other contaminants vaporize at a lower temperature than water. Inhalation is more harmful since the inhaled chlorine gas (chloroform) goes into the blood stream. Inhaling chlorine has been shown to be a cause of asthma and bronchitis, especially in children. Also, many of the chemicals in drinking water are linked to everything from sinusitis, sore throat, lung, kidney, rectal & breast cancer.

Today’s Solution.
The best solution at this time is a whole house carbon water filtration system that automatically cleans itself via ‘backflushing’ water. These amazing filters process every drop of water that comes into your home.

With one of these filters, your water will now be free of carcinogenic disinfectants—so it will taste like ‘bottled-water’, you and your children won’t inhale/absorb chemicals in your shower, your hair and skin will feel softer and you’ll extend the life of your appliances and copper pipes.

Call the Experts
I found my solution after talking with ‘CleanWaterMike’ Felsburg, a representative for San Diego-based Aquasource. Aquasource is a pioneer in whole house water filtration systems and ‘CleanWaterMike’ is passionate and knowledgeable about finding solutions to attaining safe tap water.

He explained the differences in systems and the level of water quality I’d receive from them. There are a few different blends and grades of activated carbon: the lowest – bitmous, mid level – pharmaceutical grade and the best – catalytic grade carbon.

At the very least, you want a filter of 100% pharmaceutical grade carbon to remove most of the carcinogens. Pharmaceutical grade carbon will improve water quality but will only slightly reduce the amount of chloramine gases in the water. Catalytic grade carbon has a quicker reaction rate that significantly reduces the amount of chloramine gas in your water…which is the main disinfectant that municipalities use in the water.

With my house water filtered by an Aquasource catalytic grade carbon filter, we’ve noticing a huge difference in how our water tastes, smells, and feels. I’m using less soap and shampoos, cleaning is easier and we’re already feeling better. I’ve become spoiled!

When you learn about the chemical levels in today’s drinking water, there is a moment of shock. But then, if you’ve stopped drinking tap water long ago because of the taste, this information helps it all make sense. Although this information is unsettling, the situation and solution is easy—you have a choice. The first step is to decide how important it is to your family’s health and then whether to install an in-home water filtration system like they one my family chose from Aquasource. You’ll have peace of mind and the tap water will again taste like water should.

The Balancing Act- Part 3

Tilling the Soil

Tilling the Soil

In creating a life that is more than abundant, the first step is to understand what is available. It may take a bit of research and intentional focus to know for sure what is available but the search is worth the results.  Once you’ve defined clearly what is available for you to receive in your life, the next step to achieving it is to know how to get it.

Preparing Your Field

Just as a farmer prepares as field to grow a new crop, we must prepare our field to receive abundance. In farming,  there’s a process of tilling the soil (digging up the ground to turn the old soil on the surface), removing the weeds,  fertilizing the ground for new growth (adding healthy nutrients back into the soil)- planning how to lay out the new crops (visualizing) then tending to and harvesting the new growth when ready. This analogy is a great one to understand as it’s an easy parallel to our understanding of manifesting greatness in our own lives.

Knowing how to receive abundance takes practice to undo unhealthy habits and replace them with healthy ones. It doesn’t happen overnight so patience is needed. You need to understand that where you are in your life today- didn’t happen overnight.  It may not turn 360 degrees over night either.  However, you can take big steps forward in creating new habits and thought patterns that will manifest into the abundant life you want. The more you practice and implement new healthy habits, the sooner you’ll see results.

Much research has been done to conclude that the cells in our body contain memory.  Science has also proven that over the course of 7 years, your body- every single cell- in your body can be brand new.  (If you didn’t know that before- now you do- it’s available.) This is important to understand so you can see the difference between just ‘lightly giving something a try’ versus ‘intentionally creating new habits and thought patterns’ to create results and the life you want.  This element of cellular memory is a huge eye opener to many people.  Keep checking back to read on and discover why.

In learning how to receive the things in your life that you want you need to notice first what you need to get rid of.  A farmer tills the soil to get rid of the old, nutrient deficient soil from the top of the ground- and bring to the surface soil that has more nutrients in it. A common trait most people have is to hold onto things.  We collect, we store, we keep, we gather – we add to what we already have.

This act in and of itself is not bad.  Where this can effect our life however, is in what we keep, what we hold onto- and why. (We hold onto the old without ever tilling it to replace it with new.)  There’s another level also that affects our ability to manifest abundance in our life:  sometimes the things we want to hold onto have intense emotions attached to it that are unknowingly directing your life today.

A hidden secret in creating a life of abundance has to do with balance.  It’s been scientifically proven through quantum physics that on the smallest level, the molecular level, every single cell moves and while moving, has life energy.  Life is constantly in motion.  There are times when ‘blockages’ can occur.  Cells get stuck and cause stagnation.  To another extreme, when cells get out of harmony- out of balance – when there is too much attraction in any one direction- the results can be catastrophic. Optimal health and life energy is the evidence that cells are in balance.  Disease and death result when cells become blocked, are out of balance and become stagnant for too long.

Remember before when I spoke of cellular memory in your body?  Your cells hold onto memory, both good and bad.  If you want abundance, peace, happiness, less stress, increased finances, friends- etc, but you have been living a life up to today that has been with lack, stress, no peace, depression and you feel alone- your mind, your body and your cells have that kind of negative memory imprinted on them.

There is much information available right now as to the law of attraction and how, on a cellular level, negative vibration (movement) in your life- physically, spiritually, and emotionally, and physiologically, will continue to attract like kind- negativity. If you’ve been living a life that has a negative overtone and you want to change- you have to be willing to let go. Let go of emotions, let go of the guilt, hate, fear, frustration, and even a belief of a low self esteem. In the letting go- you may have to let go of friends and physical things too- because attached to them are emotions.

Emotions play a very deep role in how our body imprints its cellular memory. This cellular memory creates the vibrations that will either attract or repel abundance opportunities.  If your cellular vibration is always negative, you will continue to attract more negativity in your life. It may not be consciously intentional, but it manifests a negative reality.  When you can get rid of the cellular memory of negativity and allow new memory to be imprinted in new, healthy cells, you create an opportunity for positive attraction to occur.

I mentioned early on that when learning how to receive the things in your life, you need to notice first what you need to get rid of- and then you need to  know how to receive. When we collect, store, keep, gather and add to what we already have, we can unintentionally create blockages and stagnation by surrounding ourselves with unbalance.  Remember, where we effect our life is in what we keep, what we hold onto- and why.

I encourage you to start to take inventory of those ‘things’ you hold onto that you have not used or make you feel uncomfortable when you see it – and why.   The beginning of personal prosperity and abundance starts with this action. Check back soon to find out what to do next to create an abundant pathway in your life.

Here’s to living a prospersous and abundant day!

Action with Intention

Action with IntentionHave you ever really stopped to consider how your actions dictate your life?  For some, this may not be a new concept. For others, it may be the first time they’ve ever heard that.

It took me sometime as I was growing up, to harness the power of that statement. It’s simple. It’s seems somewhat easy to grasp- but to understand the true magnitude behind it- you need to take a few moments to ponder just how deep and impactful those three words can really be in your life.

Many people go about their daily lives with minimal intention in what they do. In fact, most have no intention. The definition of intention is:  quality of purposefulness, or, the quality or state of having a purpose in mind.  It’s about having a purpose, a reason, a focus that leads to a desired outcome.

If you wake up in the morning simply to roll out of bed, jump in the shower and maybe get to work on time to do the ‘daily grind’, there may not be much intention -other than showing up so you can have a paycheck.

For the person who, upon rising, has a plan for the day, they’ve set a desired idea or goal that they would like to see happen- that person has taken a step to lead their thoughts and actions with intention.

The thought, goal or idea is not the intention in and of itself. It’s the desired end result. It’s really important to have an end desired result first if you’re going to achieve things in your life. Once you have that end result in thought, you have created the end goal- and now, you focus on the game plan to make that goal happen.

Here’s where action with intention really kicks in.  You have to keep your eye on the goal at all times. Think it, feel it, breathe it, smell it- embrace it as is you already have it!  Once you’ve got that, everything you do now has a purposeIt’s either going to support your goal, dream or idea- or it will distract you from it.

Now- and only now, can you start to harness the power behind action with intention.  How many times have you set out to do something … only to get distracted by the kids, tv, a phone call- a colleague popping by to shoot the breeze. If you allow yourself to get caught up in the moment, you took an action. You took a break instead of finishing what you inititally set out to do. By choosing to engage in that  moment, that distraction, your intention was ‘to take a break’.  Whether you like that or not- it’s the truth behind that decision. (Sometimes, taking a break is very important. It’s a necessary step in keeping the balance in your life.)

Once you become aware of your actions, whether they are conscious or subconscious choices, you can start to monitor the things you do. You can start  to really create a life of abundance if you choose actions with  intention that will open doors and bring people into your life that will support you along the way of reaching your goals.  You can also start to make active decisions that will intentionally eliminate distractions, naysayer’s, and non- supporters in your life.

Action with Intention is powerful. It’s a key factor in helping you live the life you’ve always wanted. Remember: when you start to apply this in your life is it requires one main thing:  ACTION.

The choice to take no action to make changes – is actually an action in and of itself. Your choice and intention behind it is to take no action.

When you choose to embrace this concept and manifest positive actions and intentions- be ready to be blown away at the world that opens up to you!

Enjoy your day – and make each action intentional!

The Habit of Choice

Sometimes when people meet me and speak to me they comment on my positive attitude and passion for the things I do. It’s consistent and it’s strong. I’ve always considered myself an ‘eternal optimist’,  but saying that  and half-full-glassgetting to the point where you live it (positive thinking with passion ) everyday can be two different things- and mine didn’t come without having to overcome some serious obstacles in my life.

There are situations when you describe someone as being a ‘cup half empty’ or a ‘cup half full’ kind of person. I would be the ‘cup half full’. I have always had an innate ability to see opportunity where others didn’t.  I’ve also seen beyond the facades that most people put up to the public and see potential in people when they can’t see it themselves.

Taking all of this into consideration- in order for me to get to the point where I am today with my thinking (being very focused, consistently positive and intentional in my thoughts and actions) – I had to overcome some very deep, dark times in my life. I have always seen potential in others- but it was a big accomplishment to see it and believe it in myself.

I usually didn’t have someone there to get through the darkest of those times. Along the way, occasionally, there were a few people who stood by my side – and to you I am very grateful for your vision in me to be more than what I could see at that moment. Your support and actions are not forgotten – and never will be.

Most of the time though- I had to get through the struggles in my life and the ‘stuff in my head’ – on my own.  There was no internet with ready information at my fingertips to answer my questions of ‘why’ and there was very little understanding of how our thoughts dictate and impact our life.  Today we understand more about that but not everyone ‘gets’ it.

It may seem unusual to meet someone who is grounded with genuine care about others and has a great attitude.  I am one of those people. Keep in mind though, that underneath it all, I’m still human and do have a full range of emotions.  I’ve come from places and situations that I would never want to have others go through.  I thank God everyday for keeping the dreams and visions he gave me for my life burning and alive through it all.  Part of my journey and my rise from darkness is an understanding of how to create the positive things in my life I want.   It’s part of my destiny to help and show to others along the way that they don’t have to stay where they are if they genuinely want more.

Where this leads to is:  every day, and in every situation we are faced with an opportunity to make choices. Each choice leads to the next path in our road.

Your choices lead to habits and your habits create results. This can be good or bad.  The choice is always yours.  To get to the point where you make the choices that lead you down the road you want, you need to be willing to let go and move beyond the ‘reasons’ and the ‘stories’ that hold you where you are today.

One needs balance in life- and acceptance and understanding that a range of emotions (which provide momentum to our choices) is healthy.  The right choices with the right emotion behind them will help you get to where you want to go in life.  Learning that you really do have a choice in how you want to live your life is the first step to achieving your dreams. Understanding what choices are right for you comes with time.

When you meet someone who is focused and positive, you may not always grasp the opportunity that has opened up for you.  You may choose to run from it because you’re unfamiliar or uncomfortable around that type of thinking – or you can make the choice to learn from it- to embrace it and move forward.

I encourage you each day- consider the choices you are making.  Are they reactive and out of a protective habit that keeps you in a survival mode?  Or, are they intentional and grounded with a focused result in mind?

The habit of choice starts with recognizing this: you do have a choice!   Choose to survive – or choose to thrive. Your future is up to you.

Have an awesome day!
