What’s Going On:

The United States of America is in trouble. That much we can all agree on. The finer details are debatable. But it doesn’t matter who’s to blame, Democrats, Republicans (or any other political party), the current President, your local government, The Fed, major corporations, Big Pharma, etc… The main source of the problem comes down to all of us, “We the People”.

The USA was founded on Christian principles. As a nation, the dominant religion has been Christianity (including all forms and denominations). God and His commandments were always at the core of our foundation and the decisions we made. And we as a nation prospered in every way because of it.

God’s Word, the church and strong religious beliefs used to be integral to most Americans in their personal lives. As the people in our nation have been slowly drifting away from God, their churches and away from basic Christian values, our nation as a whole has been suffering.

The best way to fix ANY problem is to
treat the cause, not the symptoms.

The problems our nation is facing today are not insurmountable to God. We can fix all our problems, both personal and national, but not by treating the symptoms. The following is a short list of symptoms due to a larger problem we as a nation are facing. Symptoms such as:

  • “the war on drugs”
  • “illegal immigration”
  • unrest in the Middle East
  • a failing economy in recession

All these and more can be solved by faith in God and by all agreeing to hold ourselves and each other accountable to good values.

The main problem we need to solve, the problem
that is at the core of all our symptoms,
is our separation from God.

When we as individuals are close to God then we personally enjoy the benefits of His blessings. When we as individuals are all close to God and come together as a group, as in a nation of people, then we collectively enjoy God’s blessings and protection.

The people in our once great nation have been slowly drifting away from God over the last 100 years. The evidence (symptoms) of this separation can be seen in the eroding of our family units, broken families, soaring divorce rates, increased abortions, increased domestic violence, crime in the streets, governmental corruption, etc.

Works of the Flesh vs. Fruit of the Spirit

As a nation we are in a financial recession heading into a full depression. A full financial collapse is imminent if we stay on the same path of disobedience to God. The people of our nation are suffering increasing instances of severe environmental conditions such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and earthquakes. These are all symptoms of a much larger problem looming over us. That problem is separation from God, His blessings and his protection.

Although it’s true that individuals who remain close to God are protected. But we live in a nation among others who are not protected, who are straying from God and His righteous values. This falling away of others affects all of us.

The Old Testament is full of examples of where God’s people strayed from Him and then reaped the consequences of their actions: Famine, pestilence, drought, poverty, wars, invasion and slavery. Our nation is on the brink of disaster. We are seeing some of these very same things happening to us right now, and it’s only going to get worse unless “We the People” repent and turn our hearts back to God TODAY.

“We the People” Must Turn to God as our Founding Forefathers Once Did”

Click here to read more of the why you should pray with us on Aug 6th- why to spread the invite with others you know- and how to join in prayer Aug. 6th.

May you be humble and bold. May you be peaceful and blessed.

Thank you for spreading this invite so God can perform a mighty miracle in our day and time!

My Red Stilettos – Judge not lest ye be judged

To those who have issue with  pictures of me up on FB or ‘my past’… my past is what made me who I am today.  In fact, I’m not done yet. Music, rock and roll, high heels, fun clothes, and a ROCK SOLID stand on God’s word is the foundation of who I am.  It will not change.   God has placed a calling upon me- and it has been there for years.

My past is not clean, nor pretty. It is not all filled with happy times. In fact, it is layered with the depths of the things that keep people in bondage and away from God.  That is PRECISELY why I stay true to who I am – because God was able to give me the guidance to overcome those chains- and gave me the ability to create a new life based on HIS word. Now, I reach out to others who are currently where I was- yet who seek a guidance, a mentor- a friend and confidant to lean on as they come out of their dark times.

In fact- Just this last week alone I was able to give strong, Godly counsel to 4 people around the country who are currently coming back to God. They reached out to me and were not offended by my past or who I am today.

I lead with a Rock & Roll Attitude- you can read more about that here: https://debbrasweet.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/leading-with-a-rock-n-roll-attitude/

Red StillettosOne of the organizations where I am a leader, teacher and mentor in a very public way is lead by one of my most dear, ultra proper and grammatically correct and conservative friends.  She has given me a large responsibility over HER business.  She knows of my past and knows who I am today.

One of the best compliments she ever gave me to my style and the results I deliver… was “Debbra leads with very tall red stillettos!”

She has made it public that my work for her in the area of leadership has had a major- beneficial – impact on hundreds of lives here in San Diego. She is a very proper, loving and God Fearing woman… and she embraces me for who I am today as a result of my past.

I know my audiences. I ALWAYS carry myself with dignity, grace and class. I always did. I always will. I always remember I am Gods Representative first. When I need to be demure and proper, I do. When I need to be bold and stand firm on the truth- even when naysayers and backbiters are stirring up strife because they are not comfortable with themselves, growth or change- I stand.

When you read the Bible, you will see that Peter, Paul and even Jesus himself had boldness. Peter and Paul were not perfect in their walk- yet God had a purpose for them because of their past.  Because of their past and their heart for God-they were able to bring thousands to God.

If you judge me or Daniel because of a photo (especially from a long time ago)- you are off the Word. The Bible tells us to not judge- lest ye be judged.

My ministry is in my words and in my life as an example for others to see. My words come in many forms- written (my books), spoken (the public speaking, teaching, training and one on one mentoring I do)- and yes…. my music. My vocal music ranges a variety of styles. We have the peaceful, calming, acoustic sounds for those who prefer that type. We have edgy, fun, Top 40 and progressive Rock & Roll. The words in this music cuts through the heart to get to the truth. The truth is simple as Christ says:  “Either you be with me or you be against me”.

Until you have personally come to know me- and my stand for God- it is best to take a look at your own heart first.  Where is YOUR stand?

God tells us to steward our body for health sake – it is NOT God’s job to continually heal due to slothfulness of caring for ourselves.  I was in good shape then- I am in better shape today. God tells us to steward our mind- what is it you think upon?  Where do your thoughts lead you?  God tells us to steward or spiritual life. Do YOU pray daily in continually in perfect prayer? Do you speak in tongues continually as we are instructed by Paul? Do you steward your finances? Are YOU continually practicing God’s spiritual laws for abundance through tithing (of your time, finances, heart, plurality of physical things)?

God tells us to LOVE HIM and with ALL(inclusively) of our Heart, our Mind, our Soul and our Spirit.

I do. I work out, eat clean, and teach others how to do it too. I have learned how to steward my physical wellbeing. I have been in the depths of extreme physical maladies that would stop most people cold in their tracks. Most would give up. I did not. I used those times to strengthen myself and my knowledge of the body and its ability to heal naturally based on God’s word and ways.

God makes us responsible for that which we know. I know a LOT about this. I now teach others how to do the same.  One way I do that is I help others detox physically who have lived in that dark world where the common way to fill the void in their heart is only through drugs, sex, alcohol, etc. We can detox the physicals and feed them with the Word so they do not go back to those ways. You can be Rock & Roll-still have fun and STAND for God.

I help newly pregnant moms have a healthy baby and pregnancy. (www.NoMorningSickness.com) I help others shed toxic fat  www.RxNaturally.TSFL.com

I also help others get rid of cholesterol, reduce and overcome things like diabetes, colon problems, issues with cancer, and a host of other things. This is all part of teaching others balance, healthy living based upon a lifestyle of making changes starting from were they are today.

I monitor my thoughts and input daily. The words I write, speak, teach and yes… sing…. are inspired of God and give searching minds and hearts the truth so they have new information to counter act all the garbage that holds them in bondage without God.

I tithe – financially – 10% of my financial first fruits, as well as I give at least 10% of my time daily to serve God. There are days when it’s all about God. I work for HIM first.  I pray continually. I speak in tongues all the time. It is my spiritual shield and buckler that guides my steps. It is my 24/7 direct connection to God. And yes..I even speak in tongues in my dreams at times.

This calling has been increasing and soon you will see more Rock & Roll type pictures.

You will see pictures of me as a mom, as a friend, having fun, riding motorcycles,  being strong, living life and most importantly… through it all – you will see my foundation, built upon God- will never change or go away. Only my knowledge on God’s word will continue to grow, my outreach and boldness to share and connect to others who are searching will widen- and those who I need to connect to- will find me because of who I am.

Keep the faith and Keep Rockin’

Faith, Hope and Believing

I have a personal pet peeve when it comes to hearing the Word of God misstated and misinterpreted. As a believer of God, we are to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth” as we are instructed in 2 Timothy 2:15.

One area where I hear much misunderstanding, misinterpretation and lack of clarity about God’s word is when people use the words: Faith, Hope and Believing.

Anytime we speak God’s word it is of the utmost importance that we are not dis-empowering what God has given us!

The lack of clear understanding of the words faith, hope and believing in an individual’s life leads to many opportunities for the adversary to come in and do harm and havoc to ones life.

When times get tough and challenging, five senses men often speak the words “You’ve got to have faith”. I’ve heard many, many Christians use this phrase too. Generally, when it is spoken, it is being used as a blanket of consolation – a type of ‘half hearted spiritual comfort’ in words – to encourage or remind the listener to ‘hang on, be strong, and things will/may work out’. The personal problem that I have when I hear that statement is this: God, in his Word- never tells us to have faith!

The English word ‘faithfulness’ is translated out of the old testament only twice. Once, it is used for the Hebrew word “Emun” in Deut. 32:20. Emun refers to steadiness. The other use of the English word ‘faithfulness’ is in Habbakuk 2:4. It is the word: emunah and it is better translated: stability.

The Word Faith, according to God, is the Greek work Pistis. Faith – pistis, is never used in the Old Testament. It is only used in the New Testament. Pistis means: Conviction of the truth of anything, belief.

There is relevance here to our understanding of the power in the word Faith, and how by not rightly dividing the Word, we can quickly and easily negate the power God has given us.

In the Gospels we see the life of Jesus set forth before us for our learning; his actions, his thoughts, his wisdom and his walk as the only begotten son of God. When we look closely at his life, we see that everything he did, he went to God first. Through direct communication with God, he received instruction, direction, God’s wisdom and divine understanding. Each step he took, every situation in which he made the choice to uphold the scriptures and fulfill them, he proved God and God’s word. He had to believe in God, believe whole heartedly what the scriptures said about him and he could not have one ounce of doubt about it.

When it came time for him to lay down his life, we see the ultimate example of the believing of Jesus. Before the final hours, during his prayer at Gethsemane (see Matthew 26:36) he prayed fervently to God, asking if there was any other way to fulfill God’s word. Jesus knew the pain and suffering he was about to go through. We see his human emotion in its fullness when the gospels tell us he prayed so hard about this that he sweated blood! The only way for him to fulfill the scriptures and become the Christ was to continue on in his believing in what he knew. He knew his reason, his purpose and he knew that God, under every circumstance and situation was right there with him. He knew he would not be forsaken and he knew his life was not in vain.

He also knew that by fulfilling the scriptures and allowing him self to die for our sins, it would mean the betterment of us all. In this one instance we see the faith (conviction in believing) of Jesus magnified. As you research and understand the sheer brutality and horrific conditions under which he allowed him self to be crucified- all the while he held onto the knowing of the coming of fulfillment of scriptures- you begin to see the power and steadfastness of his belief in The Word of God. He retained his trust in God and the understanding that God’s word, God’s will was coming to pass. Jesus’ walk, his life- his believing –this, is the declaration of what it means to have the faith of Christ!!

The day you became born again by proclaiming Romans 10:9 & 10 you received the gift of Holy Spirit. In that one moment, you operated believing (translated faith) and you received the permanence of this gift. With that gift came a power and a privilege that most people misunderstand. There are 9 manifestations of the Spirit and each person who has ever proclaimed that Jesus is the only son of God, he died for us and rose again from the dead and is now Lord, seated at the right hand of God, has all 9 and has the ability to fully operate them as they will!

One of those manifestations is “Faith”. Through believing we receive the Holy Spirit.

Once we receive Holy Spirit, we have received all the ‘faith’ we will ever need… we receive the Faith of Christ! We, each and every one of us who are born again, have the ability, in complete fullness to have steadfast, unwavering trust and confidence in the Power of believing God and his Word- at the level Christ did! That knowledge is wherein our understanding and conviction needs to be!

When you come to acknowledge and take operational ownership of the power in the gift you already have you begin to understand why God never tell us to ‘have faith’. We already have all the faith- ‘pistis’ we need! It’s the faith of Christ. Ephesians 2:8 verifies this: “For by grace are ye saved through faith (our believing that Christ is Lord- it is the faith of Christ that is in gift of God’s Holy Spirit that every man receives when claiming Romans 10:9 & 10); and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of (from) God.”

The English word hope has been translated from 17 different Hebrew and Aramaic words in the bible. Without study, it is very easy to have erred in our understanding.

Often we hear people casually use the word ‘hope’ in day to day language. It is used without much conviction in thought and is often referring to a passive idea. Many people walk around today without intention and the ability to truly have a crystal clear vision of an outcome they desire. Instead they speak of ‘hoping’ for something to happen. Five senses man’s use of this word usually brings with it little to no results.

Biblically, the word hope, when we look at the variety of words it actually represents, it can be seen that the main uses are related to: confidence, refuge, expectation, to cause to lean or trust. (These are not all the definitions – I encourage you to study this area on your own). What we do see though is biblically, the word Hope does not denote passivity. It still has active believing and thought behind the meanings of the words.

Believing is the active engagement of the power of our mind. It is an active engagement in the Believing of Christ! It is an active engagement of confidence, trust, remaining steadfast and to be fully persuaded in our convictions of the truth of God’s word and His Will. When you do a word study on the English translation of ‘believe or believing’, again you will see that there are five key words used – one of which is variations of the main word pistis.

Believing is the catalyst behind the magnificence of God’s Word. Faith is the inherent power that we all have. To step forward with action and ownership of the gift we have received takes an unfaltering conviction in our believing in God and the truth of His Word.

The next time you hear someone tell you to ‘just have faith’… remember- you already have all the faith you will ever need. You have the Faith of Christ! It’s simply time to step forth and take action in your believing and increase the depth of your conviction on God’s word to see miracles and amazing things comes to pass in your life.

Why God First?

Many people say they live a Godly life- but they still deal with daily struggles, frustration, pain, drama and conflict. They work through emotions of sadness, anger, bitterness and resentment.  Inside, these same people yearn for a life filled with joy, peace, abundance, fulfillment, happiness, prosperity.

The Bible says those are all available AND God WANTS us to have them! God wants us to be super conquerers. In fact, the Bible states that we are Already Super Conquerers!

If the Bible says what it means, and means what it says, and God wants us to have this happy abundant life, why is it that so many people still suffer from personal pain?

The beginning of that answer is here: It is important to understand WHY we need to put God FIRST in ALL things. It is important to learn HOW to do that.  Then, most of all, we need to take ACTION and DO that!

If you are ready to learn about this subject, here’s a GREAT video that will get you going in the right direction. It’s simple, yet powerful.

May you receive many blessings for taking the action to learn about putting God First!

Debbra Sweet

P.S.  Make a commitment to yourself and get quiet when you listen to this.  You’ll be glad you did.

Why God’s Word First Video

Dare to be Dino!

One of the things I have done since I was very young  is people watching.  I ponder over how people act, what they think, why they think it, what motivates them to do what they do, and I wonder about what they feel deep down inside.

Are they truly happy? What makes some people have great big, amazing dreams while others are content being a couch potato? How is it that some people reach for the stars and get them while others reach for their next excuse as to why they did not nor cannot ever be successful.

Our world  has been transitioned by technology, filling the minds with instant access to more negative thoughts and input than we ever used to have.  This input, unfortunately is based upon the abuse and disrespect, hardships and drama people have (and create)  for themselves and others.  So, it is a treat to find individuals who truly are visionary and still grasp the ability to be  genuine through and through.  These individuals bring with them usually a keen sense of opportunity and simple joy. It’s joy that comes from within first- and it is that joy they share and spread to those much in need.

One such person, that I am fortunate to see daily, is my son, Quinn.  I share with you his heart, his attitude and his vision for the future.  Quinn truly lives in a color filled world.  It’s bright, it’s fun, everything he does is about creating an environment or space that allows the senses to be filled with time to play. Time to revel in the simplicity life has. Time to feel pure happiness.

There are days (moments and minutes) where his desire for fun is so intense that he forgets or does not recognize the need for order and discipline in thought. (We are working on that though! LO!)  I do not want to ever oppress or repress his wonderful imagination and sense of pure love for others and life.  It is so refreshing to see.  When days are long, trying and tiresome, his relentless desire to play and have fun is good to be around. .. and here’s why:

As adults, we forget that we are to have balance in our lives.  God made us to put HIM first, not our job, not our desire for things. We put God first, then all the rest should fall in line.  God made the perfect plan- but many people are unaware of this.  One of the things that God shares in His word is that we can recognize joy by being able to sing with a happy heart even in the darkest of hours.  For most people, that inner strength and ability to rebound from difficulty is unheard of.  God says it’s available.  Quinn reminds me daily that it’s possible.

God wants us to be happy, to be fulfilled, to feel love, pure love.. which leads to joy. When was the last time YOU felt joy?

Joy doesn’t always come from play. That is unique to Quinn and unique to others. For me, I feel joy when I see others grow.    When I see them become more fulfilled and achieve their dreams and goals, I feel joy.

Part of how we can achieve joy in our life is to have vision – clear vision of what we want.  Not what we have or are living now… but clarity in the vision of what can be, what is available to us, and then take the steps necessary to achieve that vision.

In Quinn’s world, he practices what God’s Word says. He takes no thought for tomorrow- he casts his cares upon God. Quinn does not get hung up on the physical things like most people in the world. (Sometimes we have to work on some of the attention to details.. like matching clothes when we go in public,  not playing or dancing with glee down the grocery store isle when other people are just a foot away.)   But for the most part, he walks the way God teaches us.

Quinn has told me that it doesn’t bother him if his clothes don’t match. He’s wearing what he knows is comfortable and he is thankful for his clothes.  Do clothes really make the man? Nope. Can I argue with this?  I can try.. but I’ll lose to him.  He’s happy, warm, safe and filled with joy.

Does it really matter that he always wants to express his joy in public? Nope. I only need to encourage him to be watchful so he does not accidentally trip or hurt some one.  We are so accustomed to NOT seeing joy or happiness that people are actually taken by surprise to see a person filled with that pure love and true emotion.

I have asked Quinn what he wants to be when he grows up. He knows. He’s rock solid on this one- and it does not matter what you tell him- his vision is set.  He wants to be a Quadrillionaire!!  (He’s 8 right now.. but already steadfast in that goal.)  He romanced the idea of being an archeologist, a chiropractor, an artist,  a scientist.  He will tell you matter -of -factly that he’s an artist and he’s very good at his Monet art. (He is.)  However, his mind is set.  His vision is in stone. He wants to be a Quadrillionaire.  (I expect that some day he will.)

Here’s the final thought on this- Quinn is a great example of what it takes for us, as adults- to Dare to Be Dino!  What does that mean?  Quinn LOVES dinosaurs.  It’s a passion of his. At a time when most kids usually outgrow their interest in dinos, his lives on. We have dino shirts, pillows, toys, discovery games, board games, blankets, books and many other things about dinos.  For his eigth birthday, I made him a 3-D Dinosaur cake.  It filled him to overfilling joy!!  He told me he wanted chocolate mint cake… and that is what he got. (Ok- so he got chocolate cake with mint M&M’s and mint chocolate ice cream.)

Quinn and his Dino Cake

The point here is this- no matter what your passion, your circumstances, your surroundings, no matter what your friends, family or coworkers think… where do YOU find joy? What is it that you can wrap your vision around and hold onto that would allow you to be DINO?  What is it that will motivate you to play? What is it that will fulfill you so in the darkest times, you can find it in your heart to sing with joy?

I wrap up today by sharing this:  find your passion, dare to be bold about it no matter what others around you say.  SEE it in your mind clearly as if you already have it- then take action on it. Do not worry about the how, just simply do.

During your journey, keep the vision.  God’s word says:

Proverbs 29:18
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

You need to have vision of happiness, joy, fulfillment and a way to see your path for the future.  Let your heart lead your passion with joy and let yourself dance in the isles of the supermarket along the way!

Just a moment to give praise where praise is due!

God is AWESOME!  What an amazing day working by revelation.  Love it. HE does not make trials and tribulations easy to always weather the storm, but when you are patient, keep your eyes focused on HIM with complete TRUST- then you can see what is from HIM and take action on it.  It’s our choice to get out of our own way of being a victim. HE provides the path, it’s up to us to choose to take action on it!  🙂

It feels great to know I have been making choices and taking action on opportunities HE lined up- and the best part is I get to help others all along the way.

Have an awesome day,

Washing of Others Feet- Part 1

Jesus, the evening he was betrayed, “poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him” (John 13:5).

Washing Others Feet

“When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. `Do you understand what I have done for you?’ he asked them…. `Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet’ ” (vs. 12, 14).

The Bible was written in a specific culture and historical time. Its instructions are sometimes phrased with specific customs that are not always understood in modern times.

When it comes to creating a living legacy of leadership, based upon the most sound principles that will allow one in leadership and authority to be a true value to those they lead, understanding the culture and principles of “Wash one another’s feet” is one of the best lessons we can learn.

In the days of early culture, cities and civilization, modern conveniences of sewers, showers and sinks inside a home or building were not prevalent like they are today.

Before cities and villages had running water and sewer disposal from within the home, food waste, personal refuse and other types of garbage were thrown out into the streets and alley ways.  Cultural hierarchy was very strong and people with the least amount of skill sets would be pig feeders, (considered the lowest of the low of all jobs to do) and other servants that would come along in the city to clean and remove the waste.

It was life with dusty roads and open-toed sandals. (If one even had sandals.) When you were travelling (walking) through a city, not only would you be walking through the dust and dirt, but there was good potential that you would also be exposed to (and maybe walk through) the waste in the streets.

In daily life, feet often became dirty, and it was the job of the lowest servants to wash the guests’ feet before a guest entered a home.  Consider all the contamination that would be present on the feet of guests by the time they came to a home. The servants’ job was to cleanse the feet before entering.

There are two biblical customs that are present when washing the feet.  It is important to understand what these are in order to see the significance of Jesus’ washing others feet and then instructing us to do the same.

The first part of this leadership insight from biblical customs comes from the significance of water.  It is well known that water is cleansing, healing, it is so powerful that it can be used as a tool.  Water is life sustaining.  Humans are ¾ water. We need to replenish it daily for optimal vitality of living.  Water is nurturing.  Water sustains us.

The second part of this custom has to do with the significance and figure of speech the feet represent.  In eastern culture, and through out the bible, the usage of the word ‘Feet’ and ‘Foot’ are more than just literal.  Spiritually speaking, they represent our thinking and our thoughts.

Consider this:  have you ever worn a pair of shoes that were too tight?  How did it make you feel? How was your attitude? For most people in this example, the too tight shoes made a grumpy attitude surface. Your feet hurt.  You become fatigued, irritated. It’s uncomfortable to walk. You don’t want to move when your shoes and feet hurt.

Even though it may not be a conscious thought process at first, your subconscious and the rest of your body are aware that your shoes are too tight.  Your body may become off balance when you move because you try to compensate your movements with your muscles – and then they end up hurting too.  It’s a domino effect.

A simple decision to wear shoes too tight can effect your whole day, how you think, feel, act and it can have an impact on what you do, what you don’t do – and even how you treat others.

Now consider this: how would you feel if you trudged all day in bare feet or open toed sandals knowing that you were potentially walking through dung, refuse, molding, decaying food waste- etc.

Would you be joyful about that? Would your heart be light and happy?  Would you feel clean? Would you want to walk into someone’s home that way- or would you want to remove that grunge?  If you allowed that waste to remain on your feet- how would you personally feel? Would you be self conscious?  How would this impact your thoughts, actions, attitudes each day?

What if you had a small cut or sore on your foot and you left that refuse remain on your feet?  It could get infected and then effect your health and wellbeing in other ways.

So, the significance first and foremost in this part of learning about leadership through the action of “Washing Others Feet” ties up here:  Our feet and our walk- ties directly into our thoughts and actions.  Are your feet clean? Is your walk on the right road?  Do you walk with dung attached to your thoughts- or have they been cleansed?

Leadership based upon the biblical principle of watching, guarding, washing, and protecting our feet (our thoughts) is a very sound one.

In part 2 we’ll look at why it was such significance that Jesus washed others feet and how does this apply to us today.

May your day be filled with blessings,

Debbra
